Living Inclusion Network
Making Development Cooperation more inclusive
16 Percent of the world's population are persons with disabilities. Yet, inclusion is still not treated with the priority it deserves in many areas of public life, including development cooperation. The GIZ Global Programme Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities provides policy advice to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and fosters innovative practices that advance inclusion in the partner countries of German development cooperation.
A video project with voices from around the world
Themenbüro produced a series of three videos to emphasize the importance of inclusion in development cooperation, pointing out different aspects:
1. Inclusive Development cooperation in general
2. The important role of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in designing and implementing inclusive actions and
3. Inclusive employment promotion.
Two of the three videos included voices recorded by experts from around the world; the general video was mainly produced in Nairobi featuring Dr. Thomas Ongolo, an internationally recognized inclusion expert who speaks on behalf of the GIZ Global Programme.
